Pledge to drive so others survive in May

Posted on April 30th, 2018

Here at Transurban Queensland road safety is in our DNA and keeping you and our other customers safe on our go via network is our key priority. We are committed to supporting road safety initiatives that aim to change driver behaviour and encourage safer driving.

This year we are again proud to support Safer Australian Roads and Highways (SARAH) Group’s Yellow Ribbon National Road Safety Week, running from 30 April to 6 May, which honours those who have lost their lives on Australian roads and pledges to make roads safer for all motorists.

Public Affairs Manager Queensland Ruth Moody, said supporting this great initiative aligns with Transurban’s commitment to road safety and our Drive Safe campaign, which was launched in 2013.

“Through Drive Safe we partner with key organisations like SARAH to help make a tangible difference to road safety in Queensland. We are also supporting Fatality Free Friday on 25 May, which is an event that encourages drivers to consciously think about road safety and safe driving to achieve zero deaths for just one day.”

Ms Moody said the go via network team is passionate about promoting road safety so that we all get home safely to our family and friends each day.

“To promote the SARAH Yellow Ribbon campaign this year, the iconic Sir Leo Hielscher (Gateway) Bridges will again be lit yellow, and various road safety messages will be published on our electronic roadside signage across the go via network, on our websites and will also be broadcast via Twitter.”

“With hundreds of thousands of motorists travelling across the go via network daily, this is one way we can spread road safety messages and raise awareness effectively through the community.”
